Celio's Redfly is continuing when Palm cancelled the Foleo as an extension of current devices. The main difference between the Foleo and the Redfly is that the Foleo would have had its own operating system running its own applications, whereas the Redfly is more of an extension, providing for a larger keyboard and display. This means that the Redfly is pretty much inoperable without a smartphone or... Read More

As a Playstation 3 owner and one with a new Full HD plasma TV I thought this was an interesting article. According to a press release from CES a few days ago, Blu-Ray titles are outselling HD DVD titles but up to 3 to 1! Good new for PS3 owners I suspect. While I can't comment as to whether Blu-Ray is better than HD DVD or not as I don't have an HD player (If someone wants to send me one for review then that's fine!) but here is the press release from CES: Blu-ray Disc movie titles outsold H

Gizmodo has gotten some personal time with a couple of pico projectors at CES and the results aren't too bad. The better of the two is made by Microvision, although the Texas Instrument-manufactured diminutive projector isn't all too shabby either. Happy New Year! Okay, I know it’s a bit late, but I missed last week due to illness and I didn’t want to miss spreading the cheer. Did you make resolutions? Have you broken them yet? I don’t believe in new year’s resolutions. I prefer to consider establishing new habits. That way I’m looking at ways I can improve by adding things to my life rather than focusing on negatives that I want to remove. Sort of a “glass is half full” way of improving myself. Anyway, last July I quit smoking so I

Yahoo Go promotional image

This article has been updated to include new information.

Does the new Yahoo Go 3.0 beta herald Yahoo's new mobile strategy? That's what Yahoo would like you to think.

At first glance, the new Yahoo Go, a portal on the mobile phone to Yahoo's proprietary services--e-mail, Flickr, messaging, maps and directions, weather, and categorized news--looks strikingly similar to the old Yahoo Go. Sure, it's more celestial-looking with a burnished blue sky, pillowy clouds, and rays of emanating light that replace the bubbly signature yellow of its predecessor. But the carousel layout and offerings are essentially the same.

Here's what's not. The carousel is unfixed, which means users can delete Yahoo's default widgets and add their own for a much more tailored experience. The new Yahoo Go also makes use of keypad shortcuts. Pressing '#' gets you back to the carousel and '0' (zero) launches oneSearch. Reminders are tucked into most context menus.

The start screen is another brushup, helpfully summarizing your Yahoo inbox, and letting you add customized "snippets" of information, like a stock price, Web link, or RSS feed. Quick links are also shown on this page--users can select from various Yahoo ...

I know I’m late - but last year I did a review of 2006 and some of the highlights, tools and favorite links from that year, so I wanted to continue the trend. Reading and Watching Books (new) read in 2007: 65 (of which 55 were ebooks). I am almost completely digital now. I just find it so convenient - you can read my previous posts about ebooks. When I borrow paper books it’s almost harder for me to finish them. Though the number of new books read in 2007 is lower than 2006’s 98 books, I had

Stephen and I were at the Gates keynote last night, and we both got some video coverage of the event which we'll post later. Gates showed off a very interesting and very futuristic device. So you don’t want to look like a call center operator when using Skype, no problem because Polycom has come up with an answer they believe will fit the bill, it’s their Communicator C100, a speakerphone package which can be used with any VoIP package and your PC. The Communicator C100 connects to your PC via USB and will sit virtually anywhere on your desk and allows hands-free use with no wires. We all know that you can now make phone calls via Skype using a PC, but people still like to use a more traditional style phone handset. So here is the Philips Voip080 and although not really groundbreaking stuff it feels comfortable in the hand; there is also a supplied standard which is somewhat on the flimsy side. Although the Voip080 looks as if its wireless you will find connection to a PC via a USB cable, the USB cable wraps round the body of the phone so it is eay to use with a notebook
