Teksofts
A2DPToggle is a tiny little application that runs on both Windows Mobile Professional and Classic operating environments, so its compatible with both Touch and non Touch screen devices.
It allows the user to easily switch the audio output on their device, cycling through Speaker/Speakerphone and A2DP Bluetooth Device. All this is done through a neat interface that offers two display styles for the Windows Mobile Professional platform devices. It also comes with a Settings applet that allows you to automatically enable the A2DP Bluetooth when pressing play and stop buttons on the interface or have it launch a specific application. Also, this is the place where youd set the Figner Friendly mode. As far as Smartphones are concerned, to toggle the A2DP mode on or off, use the Icon in Programs to tap on it in order to enable A2DP then tap again to disable it.
This application is free to
download. For more details make sure you visit the Help and Comments section on its site.

I bet you didn't think you'd see holographic 3D imaging on a smartphone so soon. Well, Pauloke of
XDA-Developers has written a little proof-of-concept application for the Touch Diamond. It uses the accelerometer in the Touch Diamond to alter the angle of view of some 3D graphics in order to make them appear three dimensional. As you tilt the device and look from different angles, it seems like you're looking at spherical objects floating in a 3D tunnel.
You can download the application from the
XDA-Devlopers thread here. The developer's original YouTube video is
here, but WMPoweruser.com has a better video:

When a student asked Steve Ballmer "Why is still relevant and why is it worth spending money on rendering engines when there are open source ones available that can respond to changes in Web standards faster," the CEO responded that the question was "cheeky" and offered some pondering that Microsoft is looking into WebKit.
Webkit is the mobile browser rendering engine behind Apple's Safari and Safari for the iPhone browsers, Nokia's browser, and the Google Chrome browser.
According to Mac rumor website
AppleInsider, Microsoft could still adopt the open-source Webkit browser and add proprietory extensions and features that differentiate the Internet Explorer from other browsers. Furthermore, an investment in Webkit standards could also make it possible for Microsoft to update Internet Explorer and Pocket Internet Explorer, which hasn't seen an update in years. While the desktop version of Internet Explorer is now on its 8.0 release, Pocket Internet Explorer was only released in 6.0 version to manufacturers recently.

When I am in my office I am connected to most everyone I need to work with through some sort of Instant Messaging service. I find it convenient to be able to stay connected and have quick discussions. It is outside of the office where things can get a bit tricky. I’ve never really been a fan of text messaging on my mobile phone. While it can work well for an occasional status update or a quick message, using it as a conversational tool has never seemed all that efficient to me. And while IM on

As the proud owner of a T-Mobile G1, the first phone out running Google's Android Mobile Operating System (OS), I wanted to post a bit about the state of the Mobile OS market. I've been using a smartphone since about 1999, when I picked up a proprietary Sprint phone that could sync with my Outlook Contacts and Calendar. We've come a long way; we have a long way to go before the handheld devices in our pocket overcome the compromises and kludges that govern their functionality. My personal exp

The possibility of there being a Windows Mobile 6.5 fell in the "rumor" column after Motorola CEO
casually mentioned it in a conference call. Now have official word from Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer that this rumor is reality. This news came as a surprise to the community - as we had our eyes on Windows Mobile 7 and hadn't had any indication that there would be a release inbetween.
If you want to hear his comments, click on to the
Telstra Live Webcast, then pick the Q&A Session 2 in the drop down below the video, and go to around 12 minutes, where he answers a question about the next 12, 18, 24 months of Windows Mobile:
With releases we'll make this year - releases we'll make with 6.5 next year, Windows Mobile 7, I think we have a pretty interesting roadmap.
So there you have it - Windows Mobile 6.5 is real, and will be shipping on devices next year! Let the speculation begin =D. Thanks to
msmobiles for the keen eye.

We've excited to announce a much overdue feature at pocketnow.com - an easy to use commenting system for news! Our previous commenting system was based on vBulletin, thus requiring people to login/register, which is a bit annoying if you're trying to drop in for a few seconds to voice your thoughts.
Now, with our AJAX-based threaded commenting system, it's super easy to comment and even rate comments. Note that all previous news posts will still use the old commenting system (so that we don't lose any), and everything going forward will use the new system. We'll be rolling this out into our reviews in short time.

Which Has the Highest Sexy Factor? (
surveys)
Your mobile phone is constantly by your side during the day, and people take notice. It's an accessory to your life - your partner in crime. The Sexy Factor is important when choosing a phone. Does the device have smooth lines and curves? Does it use quality materials with various textures and finishes? When it's sitting on a table during a business meeting, does it say "high end"?
Let's consider both of these devices. The Touch Pro sports a flush touchscreen along with a panel of flush hardware buttons below. The front of the device seems to almost have one uniform piece of glass covering it. The sides are covered with two tones of black. The rear has a unique faceted backing, with a brush-metal triangle towards the top containing two circles outlined in polished metal that contain the camera and flash.
The XPERIA X1 has a real brushed metal panel on the front that surrounds the recessed touchscreen. Below that is a visually symmetrical layout of buttons, comprised of two "X" ...

Intel will be releasing a new netbook with a rotating touchscreen, similar to a miniature version of a tablet PC. The new netbook will be released under the CTL 2go PC brand. The netvertible doesn't come with XP Tablet PC edition so there isn't a virtual keyboard or handwriting recognition software built in, but you may be able to load it after. Priced at $499, it has a gig of RAM, 1.6 GHz Atom processor, and WiFi. There is a quick launcher overlay so you can access a lot of the controls via touch.
Laptop Mag has a video demonstration for those interested.

AT&T already has a pretty extensive WiFi network after taking over WiFi access at Starbucks from rival T-Mobile. The telecommunications giant wants to be even more ubiquitous with a planned acquisition of Wayport WiFi locations, which would bring AT&T into McDonald's and hotels. According to
CNET, the deal will result in AT&T forking over $275 million in cash. AT&T will have a grand total of 80,000 hotspots globally, 20,000 of which will be in the US.
More recently, AT&T has unleashed its WiFi access to iPhone users. AT&T also announced that the new BlackBerry Bold will be able to have free access to its networks. Hopefully, upcoming Windows Mobile devices will have the same free privileges. The free access is a win-win for the carrier and consumers. Consumers will have access to faster data than even the 3G network that is available to them while the carrier will have reduced strain on its network as a result of switching people over to WiFi.

Lets not beat around the bush here. The Aigo P8860 MID is a slightly unpolished, slightly locked-down, slightly thin-app, early-adopters Mobile Internet Device. Almost everything in the application suite is underwhelming and after the initial unboxing high, the experience takes a sharp dive. In this video that follows the
unboxing, we cover the hardware and software of the Sprint Touch Pro. We find that the hardware, including the keyboard, is nearly identical to the
original Touch Pro that was released in Europe, but adds heavy chrome accents that gives the device a high-end feel.
Inside, the Sprint Touch Pro has a Qualcomm 528MB CPU, running with about 330MB of available ROM and 203MB of available RAM. It has a 2.8" VGA touchscreen, assisted GPS, WiFi b & g, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, and USB 2.0. On the rear is a 3.2MP camera with flash, and behind the battery cover is a slot for microSD expansion.
TouchFLO 3D has been visually redesigned for Sprint, though the core functionality is still the same. We find an icon on TouchFLO 3D for Sprint TV, which is just a rebranded version of MobiTV. Over EVDO, the video is smooth, but I wish it were higher resolution to take advantage of the fantastic VGA screen on the Touch Pro.
Overall, Sprint did a good job at leaving the original Touch Pro mostly untouched, save for a ...

If you are running Windows Mobile 6 you probably noticed that ActiveSync is most of the times running in background. By doing that it eats up valuable system resources/memory.
XDA Developers wrote a tiny little utility called
ActiveSync Killer that does exactly what its name sais: it kills the ActiveSync application-process running in background when it is idle, thus freeing up your systems resources/memory. The utility is display and language independent, it will run on any Windows Mobile Professional device.
Installation after download needs to go to Device, followed by a soft reset, from which on you wont see ActiveSync anymore running in the background except for when it is really syncing.

Somewhere between the laptop and the smart phone, the computer industry has long believed there could be a small, low-cost device that would please consumers and sell well. The device would be more versatile than, say, an iPhone, but much cheaper and more portable than, say, a ThinkPad. The trouble is, every attempt to create such a category of computer has met with failure — until now. This year, that in-between type of computer now called a “netbook” has finally caught on. Since I reviewed

There isn't any software on the Redfly itself to speak of, so what I want to address here, is how the software on the smartphone takes advantage of the hardware. Some things work perfectly, and others, way less than stellar. First I'll talk about video playback. At the present time, there

Engadget Mobile, which resembles the old model but ups the resolution to WVGA. The resolution would make the Omnia a keyboard-less version of the Sony XPERIA X1. Koreans will get the new T*Omnia November 20th on SK Telecom.
The Omnia that will be coming to US carriers AT&T and Verizon Wireless should be of the VQVGA model so don't hold your breath just yet for the higher resolution display.
