Only Vaja is crazy enough to sell $100 cases. There are obviously plenty of people in the world, probably self-proclaimed leather connoisseurs, that are willing to pay Vaja prices for Vaja cases. And who can blame them? Your phone is part of your life, so why shouldn't it be protected in high-aroma, high-quality leather? Let's take a close look at Vaja's latest case for the Motorola Q9h. Read on for more!

Overall Rating:

The Good
  • Fantastic Vaja quality (leather aroma, texture, quality)

  • Many case and color choices

  • Perfect cut-outs

  • The Bad
  • Dust accumulates under screen protector

  • Screen protector is glossy (bad for outdoor viewing)

  • Pricey

With Motorola's problems as of late resulting in the company's intent to spin off its faltering mobile phone division into a separate entity, could its partnership with Kodak help it to compete in an already tight marketplace with Sony Ericsson, Samsung, and Nokia making handsets with high feature and consumer functionality?

The latest leaked picture of the upcoming Moto ZN5 on Gizmodo shows plenty of promise. The device has a 5 megapixel camera with xenon flash. The camera is said to be autofocus.

The phone looks thin, but the buttons are flat and appears to be a membrane-like device, which may not be good for dialing without looking at the keypad. Additional photos can be seen at Gizmodo.

The Invisio Q7 from Nextlink has been a highly anticipated Bluetooth headset for years and years. It's expected to be the first wireless headset with a true inside-ear bone conduction microphone. It looks like there will be a bit longer to wait...

Nextlink has entered a strategic agreement with Motorola which means that we will not launch INVISIO® Q7 ourselves, but it will be launched by Motorola under the Motorola brand during the year.

All marketing activities related to the product will be taken over by Motorola.

You can still see my review of the wired version here. I still use it on occasion when a high degree of noise reduction is required.

You've been reading lots of articles complaining about Windows Mobile lately. They say that it's broken, too hard to use and not a good user experience. People expected Microsoft to fix that in Windows Mobile 7, and they may, but apparently they've also been working on a new, somewhat retro operating system.

Motorola, who's been having troubles of their own in the mobile phone market, will be the first to release a phone based on the new operating system. It will use the same basic case as their popular Motorola Q9 series of phones.

At CTIA today, Motorola showed off the new phone. Here at pocketnow, we're proud to have the first photo of the new Motorola D-Phone, running Microsoft's latest operating system, DOS Mobile 1.0.

Engadget Mobile is reporting that the Board of Directors at Motorola have agreed to split the company up into two distinct and separate entities. One will be the Mobile Division, which will focus on cell phones, and the other is the Broadband Mobility Solutions unit, which will cover home, business, government, and enterprise.

The Board gave reason for the split as the two company will have greater resources to meet investor needs and can be more agile in developing new products. We hope a turnaround is on the horizon for the troubled phone maker and that positive things will come from the split.

Palm had undergone a similar split in its day. Palm had once split off its mobile hardware design, which was previously named PalmOne and later renamed Palm, and its software business called PalmSource. Unfortunately, because the two units were too separate, there was no synergy created in the hardware and software design, something that Apple is famous for--the great integration of software and hardware. PalmSource struggled and was later acquired by Access, the makers of the NetFront browser among other software applications.

Motorola announced it is exploring the structural and strategic realignment of its businesses to better equip its Mobile Devices business to recapture global market leadership and to enhance shareholder value. The company’s alternatives may include the separation of Mobile Devices from its other businesses in order to permit each business to grow and better serve its customers. “All of our businesses have exceptional people, products and intellectual property and the ability to achieve category leadership in their markets,” said Greg Brown, President and Chief Executive Officer. “We are exploring ways in which our Mobile Devices Business can accelerate its recovery and retain and attract talent while enabling our shareholders to realize the value of this great franchise.” The company does not intend to discuss developments with respect to the exploration of strategic alternatives unless or until its Board of Directors has approved a definitive transaction or the process is otherwise complete. There can be no assurance that any transaction will occur or, if one is undertaken, its terms or timing. http://www.motorola.com/mediacenter/news/detail.jsp?globalObjectId=9233_9162_23&pageLocaleId=2026
