HTC is expecting to sell 1 million Touch Diamond units by mid-August according to a report from PC World. The company also is aiming for over 2 million units by the end of calendar year 2008. WMExperts says that HTC will later revise its projected numbers to around 2.5 or 3 million units by year end.

In comparison, the much hyped iPhone 3G sold 1 million by the third day of launch. Sales of the Touch Diamond so far have outpaced sales of the HTC Touch, the model which the Touch Diamond replaces.

That is a lot of Touch Diamonds to be released. The device and its variants haven't even begun shipping yet in the United States.

If the delay in rotating from portrait to landscape bothers you as much as it does me on the HTC TyTN II/AT&T Tilt (or any other Windows Mobile touchscreen device with a slide out keyboard) - why not disable the rotation and use the device in landscape at all times? I find reading emails and web browsing in landscape to be more enjoyable, anyhow.

To do this - it's easy. Just go to Start>Settings>System>Screen and change the orientation to Landscape (right-handed). If you're using an HTC Hermes or Wizard and the keyboard slides the other way, use the left-handed setting.

"On July 25th, the FCC passed the HTC Raphael, also known as the HTC Touch Pro. We can tell very little about the phone from the limited information released by the FCC (HTC requested much of it be kept confidential) however we can see that the Touch Pro will have Quad-Band GSM, GPRS, EDGE, and WiFi. Simply put, this means that the (850/950/1800/1900 MHz) which the Raphael will support can work on both T-mobile’s, or AT&T’s networks. Sporting Wifi, the HTC Touch Pro could be the newest Smartphone to be added to T-mobile’s Hotspot@Home lineup."

If the Touch Pro really is coming to T-Mobile, I'm sure it will include some type of branding differentiation. It's too bad there's still no sign of a Windows Mobile phone that supports T-Mobile USA's version of 3G.
