My new favorite Cell Phone: Touch HTC. Read my review and why I think it’s currently one of the best around for the money! Awhile back I got asked what my favorite cell phone on the market today was. I got to thinking about it because mine was a little outdated (a year old and outdated - can you believe it?), so I went back to my original criteria for buying a cell phone: Cell Phone Purchase Check List Never Overpay (buy bleeding edge or brand new). This usually means sticking to $250 or l

You know how I love the HTC Advantage and the mini-laptop functions it provides me. You may recall how we live blogged the entire CES straight from the Advantage, thus providing instant show floor coverage. When HTC announced the refreshed Advantage, the x7510, I couldn't wait to get my hands on one and try out the new model. The new keyboard looks really usable and the 16 GB of flash memory would let me carry all my files with me everywhere. Unfortunately the 7510 still hasn't been releas

According to WMExperts, the promised updates to enhance smoother graphics operations on recent generation HTC devices will still be coming. One popular HTC device that was effected is the TyTN II/Tilt. A lot of users were upset in a previous post at Pocketnow.com when they found out that HTC devices were slow because the company didn't license the proper drivers from Qualcomm.

The fix will not arrive as a video driver as HTC will still not be licensing those from Qualcomm, the maker of the chipset that would enable higher performance graphics and video. Rather, HTC will update the software and tweak it so that it will enhance playback.

Here is what WMExperts know:

-Yes, they're still releasing an update
-No, it's not going to be a driver, just like they said.
-No, There is no firm release date.
-No, they can't say whether or not it will require carrier approval.
-No, they can't say whether or not it will be released as a .cab update or via some other method.

There is no estimated date for release, but HTC is still working on it.

Oh HTC - what will you have for us on May 6? Will it be a new line of new Windows Mobile phones? The current line is sure due for a refresh. We'll be quite happy with the HTC Raphael and Diamond, devices that are rumored to sport 528MHz processors, VGA touchscreens, and every connectivity option you could ever want (3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS). Applause would follow, and so would a standing ovation.

Will said drool-inducing specifications come at the expense of bulkiness? Doesn't look that way, fortunately. sizeasy helps us get an idea of size for these two new devices. In green on the left we have (arguably) the most capable Windows Mobile device ever, the TyTN II, followed by the "last" generation HTC Touch in red, the upcoming Raphael in yellow (that's the one with the keyboard), and finally, the slim and trim new HTC Diamond in blue.

There are now more details regarding the GSM/HSDPA version of the HTC Diamond that we posted earlier that was coming to Spint. New reports from The Boy Genius Reports indicate that the GSM variant of the HTC phone will feature 7.2 Mbps HSPA for high speed download and upload. Nestled with an increase in wireless data speed and a jump in processing speed to 528 MHz from 400 MHz on the TyTN II is also a decrease in battery life to 900 mAh. The TyTN II comes with a 1350 mAh battery and that barely lasts me through the day with moderate phone use and push email. Hopefully HTC has optimized the energy consumption of their new crop or else we may see a decrease in battery life.

According to WMExperts, the new model names are:

HTC Diamond = HTC Touch Diamond
HTC Raphael = HTC Touch Pro
HTC Titanium = HTC Touch Dual Pro

Full specifications, according to The Boy Genius Report:

*Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional
*Qualcomm MSM 7201A @ 528MHz
*256MB ROM / 128MB RAM
*7.2MB HSDPA / HSUPA (rev A EVDO for Sprint versions)

Sprint's about to get some love from HTC with two new devices that will presumably have TouchFLO on them as the screens appear to be flush from the grainy spy shots. The question here is if you're a spy at HTC headquarters, wouldn't you invest more money in some nice spy cameras instead of the cheap 0.3 MP webcams?

Aside from that, Engadget Mobile posted pictures of the Diamond, the successor to the Sprint Mogul by HTC. The device will feature CDMA technology, WiFi, and will have a 3 MP autofocus camera. Hopefully the camera will be better to the slow responding autofocus lens on the TyTN II/Tilt. The device features a slideout QWERTY with a rectangular design. The other device codenamed the Raphael is just a tablet with no keyboard and may replace the Touch on Sprint right now.
