At first glance, the HTC Fuze seems to be a few steps back from the Tilt that it replaces, but there's a lot of added features that replace the ones removed. The form-factor isn't nearly as ground breaking as the Touch Diamond, and the lack of tactile hardware buttons and hardware softkeys on the keyboard are likely concerns for business oriented uses.

For some reason, I could never find the HTC Max product page on HTC's website until now. The page for the Max is limited on details (and photos), but talks about the VoIP and multimedia features of the WiMax-capable device that is being launched in Russia.

What we do get to see is the spec sheet, which reveals that the Max is virtually identical to the Touch HD except that it is 1.9mm thicker, carries a battery that is 150mAh larger, includes 8GB of onboard flash memory, and of course adds WiMax to the list of wireless radios.

Which Way Should the Keyboard Slide?

It seems that the trend for the new breed of devices with slide-out keyboards, like the Touch Pro and XPERIA X1, is for the keyboard to slide open to the left. But older devices like the HTC TyTN II and HTC S730 had rightward-sliding keyboards. Being a righty, I prefer the new left-slide style so that my right hand is free to access the D-Pad and other hardware buttons which get positioned on the right.

The XPERIA X1 is a fantastic device, but it's not without faults. As we cited in the review, the X1 lacks a bit in the one-handed usability department: there's no hardware Start menu button and no finger-friendly keyboard for quick text message replies without having to slide open the keyboard, among other things.

Well, here are two little apps to increase one-handed usability on the XPERIA X1. First, we have the HTC keyboards ported right from the HTC Touch HD and other HTC devices (first image), which presents you with a T9-style keypad, SureType keyboard, and full keyboard. To install, grab the file and run the CAB on your device (and see the post from XDA for more info).
