In the WWDC 2008 conference keynote today, Steve Jobs compared the iPhone 3G's 3G internet speed to the Nokia N95 and Palm Treo 750; two devices that are about 6 months older than the original 1 year old iPhone. Apple is notorious for distorting statistics and such in order to make their products seem better than they really are and this might be another good example.

I wonder if newer HSDPA devices can get the same speeds as the iPhone 3G. Engadget says they've got 215Kbps on the iPhone 3G, which isn't much more than the 201Kbps I have seen on T-Mobile's EDGE network.

StyleTap today officially confirmed that they plan to bring a version of its StyleTap CrossPlatform environment to the iPhone and the iPod touch platform. The move will essentially bring thousands of Palm OS apps over to the new iPhone platform.

It looks like the iPhone isn't going to be the only phone in town with some Mobile Safari love. The Webkit-browser is hopping platforms to Symbian S60 courtesy of the new Samsung L870 slider phone that is reminiscent of the Nokia N95.

The Samsung L870 rounds out the specs with a 2.4" QVGA display, S60 operating system based on Symbian, 3 megapixel camera, FM radio, Bluetooth, microSD expansion, and tri-band GSM and single band HSDPA. This means that there won't be a North American version, unless a separate version is built with North American frequencies.
